Beschreibung:
Eine Gruppe von britischen, amerikanischen und kanadischen Kriegsgefangenen und Ausbruchstalenten flieht im März 1944 aus einem besonders gesicherten deutschen Lager in Bayern. Unter dem Kommando des rebellischen Virgil Hills ist es dem Trupp gelungen, mit Hilfe von 600 Gefangenen, von denen die meisten im Gefängnis bleiben werden, im Laufe eines Jahres einen Tunnel in die Freiheit zu graben. Ihr Ausbruchscoup setzt die Operationen der deutschen Armee für einige Zeit außer Kraft.
Mischung aus Gefängnis- und Kriegsfilm, in dem alliierte Kriegsgefangene der Deutschen eine groß angelegte Fluchtaktion versuchen.

Based on a true story, a group of allied escape artisttype
prisonersofwar are all put in an escape proof camp. Their leader
decides to try to take out several hundred all at once. The first
half of the movie is played for comedy, as the prisoners mostly
