Fork of eMule mods for Linux: Beyond aMule?

Has anyone ever thought of creating a fork of eMule for Linux?
aMule is pretty boring and then it's the only ed2k client that exists, I'd like some mods like those from the Euro-Community to be forked for Linux for Debian and the main distros, or maybe in AppImage format.
Do you think it will be possible?

I think it's too easy using wine. And it works good with emule.
Probably you wouldn't find much users...
